I have just returned from my trip to Houston Texas. While I was there I saw a lot of Development going on and I felt right at home (kinda). The one thing that I noticed was that the home prices are significantly lower. Everyone there seem to have the hope of paying off their home some day. Here, in Roseville California, I still have clients that are opting for the interest only notes just so they can buy a home that fits the family. I almost decided to move there. 3000 square feet 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath, game room, media room, 2 car garage with a gym, splash pad and pool for the kids, Basketball court in a friendly neighborhood. The price $225,000. Wow! Let's just say similar to my home for a third of the price. I did buy in 2006 though!

Anyways, on my way back from Houston I thought that this was the perfect place to talk to homeowners about paying off their mortgage in 1/2 to 1/3 the time without changing their daily spending habits. I am assuming that they have disposable income at the end of the month. Based on the conversations that I had I do not think that this is a stretch. If you are curious what I am talking about shoot me a message and today may be the day your past clients thank you again for a job well done.

No secret to paying off mortgages faster.  Pay more than is required as a principal reduction.  If you paid your mortgage every 2 weeks instead of once a month (half on the first and half on the 15th for example), eventually you would end up making an extra payment a year and thus cut the life expectancy of your mortgage by SEVERAL years.

Matt, Sounds like we have another U1st agent joining the rain.  I think the MMA has a place but beware of some sceptics here in the Rain.

Jennifer - I will contact you to give more info.

Katy- Thank you for the comment. There are several other ways the one you described is effective.

Jimmy - yes thank you. There are always skeptics. Not everything is for everybody. That is why I present info rather than sell. It is the information age and I think everyone should have the information.
