I just recently started using a new service at the recommendation of Michelle Spalding, who also posted a blog about this service called Text Messaging - the easy way - Check out Jott.com - my office and I love it. First of all, the service is completely free, so there is no reason not to use it. It takes about two to three minutes to set up and once it's set up you never have to go back to the website.

What this service does is allow you to call an 800-number, record a note to yourself, and then receive that note in the form of an e-mail. This is a great tool for virtual tour providers and real estate agents alike! The service actually takes your voice, transcribes it, and then sends you an e-mail so that, later, when you get home you can remind yourself of whatever it was that you were thinking about while driving down the road. So, if it's important... you are able to get it ‘jotted down' even if you're stuck in traffic without a pen. J

Neat service! The only gripe I have had so far is that you have to dictate or you wind up with garbage in your e-mail when you get home. So, just make sure to enunciate EVERY SINGLE word when you are jotting to yourself.

The service can be set up so that you can jot other people, but I don't use that functionality because I don't know how that e-mail is going to look when they get it. I don't want to be known for being illiterate or even worse a ‘loony bin' when they get a garbled email.

To set up service you enter your e-mail address and your cell phone number. You confirm your e-mail address by clicking on a link and you confirm your cell phone number by calling their 800 line from your cell phone. It's that easy!

I LOVE Jott.....    It's so easy to send myself reminders especially if I'm driving.  I don't have to take my eyes off the road to text a message or wrtie something down....   Just call the Jott number and leave myself a message!

Karen - Jott uses voice to text and actually sends you an email in addition to a voice mail!

Sorry Cheryl, just chiming in.  ;-)

Cheryl,

I've been meaning to tell you how much I LOVE this!  It's sooo easy to use and so much better than using the pen that's running out of ink on a napkin in my car while driving 65 mph down the highway!  I have had a few illegible jotts, but that's probably just what I said in between my "umms."  Thanks again for the great info!
