Make A Genuine Effort To Be Genuine

GenuineI think one of the things I like about dogs is we learn from them. One lesson I have found is they are just themselves. So

Make A Genuine Effort To Be Genuine.

This dog was pooped, and just decided to rest WHEREVER he was comfortable. Not worrying about image all the time. I am not encouraging you in a suit and tie world to dress in torn shorts and flip flops or pee on trees, we have some limited fitting in, but in general BE REAL.

Too often MANY of us have so many SOCIAL MASKS I wonder if THE OTHER PEOPLE know who the real YOU is inside. Avoiding PRETENSE. Attempting to make something that is not the case appear true. If you don't cover a certain area in real estate, niche or geographic, just be honest if attempting this, that you will do your best. I find the trait of being GENUINE with lots of people, in short supply. If you don't like something all your peers like you don't have to rant and blog and get in a big fight about the differences, JUST don't always go along to get along if it is not you. It's OK, being genuine will give you much more inner peace than fighting your true nature.

Since we as humans are much more complex than dogs, we will have social masks, who we are in private, with close friends, out in public, but the key in being REAL is have FEW of them, where they are just slight modifications on your TRUE self. If you find yourself being WILDLY not real with who you are in your core, you need to look in the mirror, reign yourself in, and get back on track. We are not perfect creatures like our DOGS :) Do your best, but BE REAL, to you and OTHERS.

Gary, not to get too deep here, but I think everyone has certain parameters that describe who they are. A range, so to speak. I can be myself working or talking with high end executives wearing really nice suits. I can also be myself wearing a maintenance uniform dumping gargage. I've done both and I do fit into both worlds... and still maintain the genuine "me". It's not only my clothes that change. I do relate a little differently in the two cases.

Hi Gary interesting post. The funny part about it is that we all wear masks. No one knows what goes on behind closed doors. The couple you think are the happiest are possibly not. The "hey how ya doing, great" may be a depressed person.

We all have good days and bad but I always try to be nice to everyone and have a smile on my face.

Gary- so very many sides to this.  Like Tom... I have different roles that I play depending upon the situation.  And we all keep the stiff upper lip when we feel we need to.  I understand that but in all cases, I think our deep core should shine through if we're to be truly genuine.

I completely agree with your sentiment here.  But, I'm not liking that picture and it's making me feel rather uneasy. You see my Golden retriever moved a lot when she slept and I keep getting nervous that this dog will hit his or her head on the pavement.  But, yes, I agree w/ you.  - Debbie

Hi, Gary.  I've met some people who try to be who they are not.  I've never been able to do that, and really didn't care to.  I'm afraid people get what they see with me.
