Look for the "Fire Hydrant" When Buying a Home.
It Could Save You Money.
When Buyers look for a new home, the one thing they don't look for, is the Local Fire Hydrant. I don't mean you have to have one in your yard, although that would be convenient, if there should be a fire, but your Buyer should be aware of it's location.

When we purchased our home a few years ago, we found out that there were no fire hydrants in our neighborhood. Now that was not unusual, because we were just outside the city limits. The local Fire Department was just over 2 miles away, which was another issue. We just heard that there is going to be a new Fire Department built closer to us in the near future.
Now why does all this matter? Well, it seems that when you purchase your home insurance, it generally changes your insurance rates for the better, if you have a fire hydrant within a short distance from your home and the closer the Fire Department, the lower your rates could be.
Most subdivisions have hydrants scattered throughout the area for quick access. The next time you buy a home, find out where the fire hydrants are located and check with your insurance agent to see how this affects your insurance payments.
It might just lower your insurance.
