Top 10 Buyer Agent Mishaps (I hope I don't make today!)

Leave the office. Leave the lockbox keycard on the charger... At the office.

Leave the office with the lockbox entrycard. But it's not updated/charged.

Leave the office without your cell phone.

Open the front door. Oops. The showing instructions to the alarm code are in the car. And it's armed.

Leaving the house. Left the key somewhere inside... Where?

Opened the door. Cat escaped.

Opened the door. Announced presence. Someone's in the house anyway. Asleep. Half-naked.

Picked up buyer client. Didn't map out directions where to go. Nav system, please work!

Arrived at buyer's house. Forgot info sheets. iPad's @home.

Used the restroom. Forgot to check if there was water on first. Oh $#!%

I will be showing houses this afternoon. Giggling as I prep and review the what-not-to-do list. Nah. I've never done any of them ;)

Putting my clients before myself

I've locked myself out of an open house...twice.  Once because I locked my coat inside with my MLS key and the other time because of funky door locks. Embarassing either way!

This is a pretty funny post!  Sadly, I've done a few of these things, but never more than once.

Or....leave the house with the key in your pocket.  I did that once but luckily didn't get too far before I realized it & went back.

After that my standard practice has become to leave the key in the lock in the door to avoid doing that.  However, one time that caused me to get locked in a house.  The key/lock was a very OLD skeleton-type key.  My clients shut the door and then the door locked automatically....the only way to unlock it was from the inside....with the key! Luckily we had someone close by who could come & let us out otherwise I would have been going out the window!

Here's two more;

11. Misplace the alarm code

12. Can't find the alarm to insert the code

See, this is why it's always good to do a personal inventory check before heading out the door. Let's think here, underwear, check. Pants, check. Shoes, check. What am I possibly missing? Oh, yeah, a shirt. Oh, you may laugh . . .

I've had door locks that wouldn't work, keys being stuck in the door lock, keys being fumbled after getting them of the key lock and then falling through the slots of the deck . . . never to be seen again.  I have a system in place now . . . LOL

Leaving or forgetting to update the supra key was always a bad thing to happen. So glad they have an iPhone app now, that solved that problem for me...as long as my phone is charged!

I'm very meticulous but went to a showing without my cell phone.  And of course I couldn't open the Supra without it.  Arggh!  Buyer was running late but couldn't call me because I left my cell phone at home!

Recognized barely missing the above. One oops I wish I had missed:  previewing a multimillion dollar luxury home - opened door, announced myself to a vacant home and promptly fell down some Italian marble steps. Broke my arm. One oops I would have liked missing :)

Bill - Funny! Never been locked on a balcony. With my fear of heights, I would certainly lose my deal. They would think they hired a freak!
