Traveling to Uruguay - Any Advice?

We are thinking of traveling to Uruguay for Christmas this year, and wondered if anyone had done this.

Ideally we are looking to rent a small bungalow, preferably close to the coast, on a working farm or something similar.

We have decided to drive to Miami, and catch a direct flight to Montevideo, and then we'll rent a car and do our best to live like locals. I've looked at VRBO for rentals, and there are some incredible deals for as low as $99 a night, which is fabulous.

If anyone has done anything similar in another country, please share: I'm sure there are some tips you can share.

Hi Carol, I have traveled abroad and was told to not leave anything in the room while we were away from it. They had maid service, as we were renting a cottage. They were known to pray on out of towners and tourists. I don't know about where you are going, but I hope you enjoy it without incident. We didn't have any problems, and enjoyed our vacation.
