Jazz Came Up The River...

from New Orleans to Davenport, Iowa!!!

The Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival is celebrated each summer in LeClaire Park.  The bands play in the LeClaire Park Bandshell built by the Davenport Levee Improvement Commission and located right on Davenport's Mississippi riverfront.

The RME (River Music Experience) is located in the Redstone Building located in downtown Davenport.  It celebrates music of all kinds but has a strong flavor for Jazz.

There is even an area for kids to try out instruments that is very popular for school field trips.

We also have the River Roots Live Music Fest!

The Grand Excursion 2004was a re-enactment of the excursion up the river in the days of Bix.

Im from Ireland looking for a song with the lyrics Jazz came up the river and i came into this site its very nice and if i had the cash to come over i definitely would well done! Lucky very nice all the love from Ireland

Did you find the lyrics that you were looking for?  Our Barbershop Chorus performed that song at our 2007 Spring Concert.  If you need them, I can send them to you!

Lots of events going on in Davenport, Iowa all year round.  Let me know if you ever make it over here and I'll show you around!
