How to Replace Orthodontic Retainers for Less in Temecula CA 2014
The short answer is, go to Crossings Dental in Perris (951-345-4386), and save yourself almost half the cost of two retainers! For us, that is $300!
Here's the full story: our daughter's retainers got wrapped in a napkin and tossed in the trash at our home in Murrieta before Waste Management came that day. Unfortunately, we didn't realize the orthodontic retainers had gone into a trash bag until after all our trash was taken by WM!
My first call was to our daughter's orthodonist, where I was told that they would cost $325 per retainer; so $650 for the two. When they did the original mold, I remember being told that having that original mold would save me some money; now that the need arose, the office staff had no recollection of that discussion. There would be no reduction in price even though they had the mold from her original retainer which was done just last summer; she's worn them daily, so I was pretty confident no new mold would be needed.
For $650, I'm willing to dig in quite a bit of trash. So my next call was to try to find our where that trash would be. Murrieta, Temecula and the Inland Empire are served by Waste Management, so my first phone call was there. They were very nice, and explained, all the trucks pick up house to house, and when full, they dump the trash at the Sobrante or Moreno Valley landfills. Truck after truck, all day. Even if they could tell me a general area of the landfill, it would be nigh impossible to find where that particular trash was.
My other calls were to our Murrieta and Temecula orthodontist offices. Over time and over 4 children, we've used four! The current one for our youngest son said they couldn't tell me over the phone and will call back. I saw where this was going.
So last year, the same daughter who created our retainer crisis had needed her wisdom teeth out. Murrieta and Temecula dentists quoted us $800. A friend and I happened to talk about it -- same age kids, same problems! -- and she told me she was trying Crossings Dental in Perris, because it was $400 cheaper. I called there, and samesies! We saved a lot and it went fine.
So I called them back regarding retainers, and guess what! They could tell me immediately over the phone that it would be $175 per retainer, or $350 total, no extra charge for x-rays, etc.
So I hope this post helps some local residents who feel like there is some price-gouging going on in Murrieta and Temecula, and who are willing to drive an extra 20 minutes.
And if you might want to sell or buy a home, we'd be happy to help with that too!
