I bet you think I am going to talk about how important master bathrooms are? How granite or corian is better than formica in a bathroom Or how you shouldn't have carpeting on the bathroom floor. No I have to share about the interactions between the realtor, the bathroom, and the client. Yes I am a personable realtor and many of my clients become friends, BUT......
I really do not need to get too close to a client's bathroom. This is the second time this is happened to me in eleven years of being a realtor. The first time was quite a few years ago. I was talking to a guy and his voice and background sounded funny while I was talking to him on the phone. All of a sudden I hear a flush. Not what I needed to hear.
Yesterday I was on phone with a client and she says hold on...."I have to go to the bathroom". Now I'm not a prude. Just tell me you will call me back. I was set on the counter and was on hold several minutes while she used the bathroom. Please just tell me you will call me back.
The best one was when I was showing a house with a family of four. We were looking at the master bedroom when the husband says I have to use the bathroom. 5 minutes went by and he was still in the bathroom, so me, the wife, and two kids moved out of the master bedroom. We went downstairs and made small talk for 10 more minutes. After a loooong 15 minutes the husband finally came out of the bathroom.
Those are my true stories as a realtor of clients and the bathroom. I like you but let's hang up the phone if you have to go. Honest I will pick up the phone again. I always do....I don't need to share your bathroom moment.
