"Season" In Sarasota - The Good with the Bad

By
Real Estate Agent with True Sarasota Real Estate

Season is that time of the year, usually Christmas through Easter, that our town balloons in population and visitors, making parking spaces rare, streets congested and wait times at restaurants interminable.

I have been known to grumble a bit, as I am forced to give up my noonday beachwalks for lack of a place to leave my car.  My kids and I eat in more, and we have to leave 15 extra minutes to get anywhere.

But I doubt you would find a business person in Sarasota who complains much about "season" . This is a beach, resort town. We rely on tourism and winter visitors to keep our economy healthy, to boost sales 5 months per year so that we can survive the heat of summer, blissfully empty as the town may be.

As a Realtor, I have to embrace season as well. For me, the opportunity to show the beauty of this Gulf Coast town  to hundreds of people each year is good business! When people visit, they often decide they want to stay.

I can wait a few more weeks for my beachwalks. After all, I am privileged to live here year round. And I welcome anyone who wishes to join me. Just dont take the last parking spot! :-)

Ditto for Cape Coral.  I am seriously considering a Scooter to drive during "Season".   But I love the weather.   How are prices in Siesta Key these days?  Just a small condo for weekends type of place?

We are quite the opposite here in NH. Our beaches and lakes don't start to fill up until mid to late June. It lasts through the foliage season on October. We come to you... then you come to us. We still have lots of snow here! Can't wait to see it GONE!!!!!

Stephanie - Dont get me started on snow. I grew up in the northeast! But yes, lets swap folks...send em down I'll send them back in a few months.

Mary- Siesta Key prices are crazy about $200K now, for a small place...these were $400K a couple years ago! I am seriously looking for my retirement place...:-)
