My First Slideshare: Listing With A Large or Small Real Estate Company

Here I am again sharing my latest "big thing." Since I started blogging in 2009 it seems the Internet is continually evolving. Everytime I turn around the next big thing has arrived. It's hard keeping up and sometimes it's even harder knowing which "big thing" to embrace and which ones to pass by. After all, as real estate agents we wear many hats and don't have all the time in the world to spend on online marketing!

For the longest time now I've had it in my head to try out SlideShare. Just like video marketing it was on my to do list. Now that I've finally gotten round to it I can say that unlike video marketing it's easy to put together. If I'd known how easy I would have done it a lot sooner!

So why bother with Slideshare when there are loads of other options for sharing content? The answer to that is quite simple. It's a great way to repurpose posts. I just take out the bullet points of a post, the "meat" of what I'm trying to convey to the reader and put it in a nice visual format for easy reading. It's a great way to reach buyers and sellers who don't want to plow through a 700 word post to get what they want. (Yes, I'm wordy by nature, my posts are routinely 700+ words long).

You don't need anyone to tell me there are plenty of buyers and sellers who want the information in more detail - I know that, I'm working with a buyer right now who thinks I should write a book! The information we put out there should be available for all sorts of people with all sorts of reading styles. The detail oriented still get the original post - Slideshare is just another way to get information out there is a different format. What's not to like about that?

Love it!  I am going to add it to my long list of things to master.  I also like the content of your SlideShare as I am launching my independent career in the next 3 weeks!

That's great Shelley. Congrats on your decision on launching your independent career. I launched mine in December 2011 and haven't looked back.

As far as Slideshare is concerned, this is an easy one to master. I created this slideshow in Powerpoint and then converted it to PDF format to upload to Slideshare. I did a lot of reading on "best practices" before I started and apparently graphics look best if the file is converted to PDF.

I am watching good people and good bloggers leaving AR. Not that I am surprised, there is very little of that "age of innocence", but still, it is sad

I know what you're saying Jon. It seems that very few of the people I remember from when I first signed up are still here.

For myself, I seem to have lost some of my blogging mojo lately and I'm trying to get it back. It is somewhat difficult to put AR at the top of my blogging list as I really don't like many of the developments in the past years. I truly believe smaller is better, (the fact that I work as an independent Broker is indication of that). Bigger companies typically means more rules and the culture changes. I'm trying to embrace the idea there might be benefits in these changes in the long run, but the Jury's still out for me on that. :)
