My Minute of Fame with Marilyn Monroe in Palm Springs
It's hard to believe it has been nearly two years since Marilyn Monroe arrived in Palm Springs, California from Chicago. It seems like she just arrived a few months ago! But in one more month, the famous "Forever Marilyn" statue will be leaving Palm Springs to head to New Jersey.
After two extensions, it's finally time to bid a farewell to Marilyn Monroe. The P.S. Resorts association, who is responsible for bringing the statue here, is planning a farewell party on March 27, 2014 at 6 p.m. during Village Fest. As of today, details are still in the works.
Marilyn has certainly been on the top of list of attractions for tourist and residents alike. In fact, it's hard to get a moment alone with the iconic statue. Lines form daily as people wait their turn to snap a picture with the blonde beauty. Arnold Schwarzenegger was even seen grabbing a selfie with the statue.
I was showing real estate in the Little Tuscany neighborhood of Palm Springs and decided to stop for lunch in downtown afterwords. Walking past the famous icon, I couldn't help myself and had to grab a photo of the famed statue before she heads out of town. The statue is reportedly 26 feet tall and weighs approximately 34,000 pounds.
