Strawbale homes...the images are many for most. Some are of little rodents in the walls and other such things. The truth is Straw is an excellent natural resource that can not only insulate a home to an extremely high degree but there is not room or way for the rodents to get into the walls! Most homes built using this product are so compressed that not much if any air is in the walls and it would take a superman of a rat to get into the wall to begin with!
Here are some links for you to investigate if you are so inclined:

Many people in Shasta County don't even know that there are homes such as these. There is also an interesting new development done by the Shasta Builders Exchange that features a home that has a straw bale wall. You can see more on that here.
The key to selling homes like these will be getting to people who think "Green" and are looking for an environmentally friendly home. That's what ECO Brokers are for!
I think as more people get educated on the benefits of using straw we will see more straw-bale construction!
