Over 30 years ago when I became a Realtor, my broker explained people move on the average of once every five years. Fast forward to today and after a quick Google search, it seems that same statistic holds true.
Shopping for a home depends a great deal on a buyer's stage of life. For example, young adults may choose to buy according to the proximity to colleges, metro areas and what is trending at the time.
Folks only a decade or so older, statistically, are more likely to be families with children or considering children. This segment may focus more on good school districts, big backyards, extra bedrooms and amenities such as pools and nearby parks.
Second Half buyers on the other hand are often empty nesters and have a much different agenda. Second-half buyers have often moved around enough and have a pretty good idea of where they want to spend their golden years. In other words, second-half buyers are more likely to shop for a home to enjoy the second half of life’s journey without the old fogie style.
An overwhelming majority of seniors prefer to age in place rather than relocating to a facility. With just a bit of planning, a person can enjoy the freedom, independence and comfort of being in your own home for longer than ever before.
I've just started a Pinterest board to collect some of the modifications & enhancements available - many at a low cost, please visit at Second Halfers. Thank You!!
