Wear Sunglasses Year Round!
The ophthalmologist recommends wearing your sunglasses year-round. Over time, sun exposure can increase your risk of cataracts and macular degeneration, which is the leading cause of blindness in the U.S. If you wear contact lenses, consider ones that have built-in UV protection (in addition to sunglasses). And remember, a darker or more expensive pair is not always better. What matters is that the lenses offer 99% UVA and UVB protection.
Also, there is a very rare cancer, Ocular Melanoma, that is sun related, Kristin. I know because I had it 7 years ago, a tumor in the eye. Wear sunglasses whenever you are outdoors.
Kristin, this is good advice for everyone. It's so easy to forget that we need to protect our precious eyes all year long, even on overcast days.

Sharon, agreed! I had a bad pair of glasses once that made big indentions on my face, so I didn't wear any....bad girl me!

Interesting info! I also wear a sunglass but not that much. Just a reading sunglass. 
Kristin, I do need to do more of this! Wearing sunglasses would have come in very handy driving though a couple of the white outs from blowing snow that we have experienced this winter!!!
Hello young lady and I really like this post! VB does try to wear sunglasses year round, especially with all the bright sun we get in the SW desert areas. VB's eyes are very sensitive to bright sunlight and he gets headaches from time to time. Your post has been featured to the group:

I hear your warning and maybe I should heed your advice, so far I have never been able to keep a pair of sunglasses on for very long, I cherish every once of sunlight and hate to cloud it over with dark glasses.
I always wear them even on rainy days depending on how bright it is because I am a migraine sufferer.
