So many agents ask me what designations are good and waht classes should they take, and I wanted to give some advice. Our local community college, Columbus State Community College (www.cscc.edu) has a great real estate program and actually offers an associates degree in real estate.
This quarter (starting March 31) they have a class called Residential Sales Practices which is 3 hours for 10 weeks on Tuesday nights from 6-9 PM. Great for new agents, we will teach things like building a business plan, marketing and prospecting, building a listing presentation, etc.
On Wednesday nights (6-9 PM) we have an introductory level class in Real Estate Investing which will cover things like property analysis, selecting properties, financing for investments, property management, and the like. This is good for agents, but also good for clients.
Community colleges are very affordable at only $79 per credit hour, so a 3 hour class that meets for 10 weeks is only $237.00. Try to find a value like that!
They also have every computer class you could imagine, from basic Office 2003 to website development. If you know of someone in your office that could benefit, nudge them towards the local community college. You will be surprised at the level of learning they offer and the value.
