This weekend is the beginning of Daylight Saving Time for 2014,
Since 2007, daylight saving time begins on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November.
The law in the United States does not require any state to adopt daylight saving time.
Some states do not observe daylight saving time and they remain on standard time. Arizona, with the exception of the Navajo nation, remains on standard time. Hawaii and the territories of the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, America Samoa and Guam do not observe daylight saving time.
More than one billion people in approximately 70 countries around the world observe daylight saving time. You can read more about the history of daylight saving time in the United States and all around the world.
By the way, did you know that it is Daylight Saving Time and not Daylight SavindS time. Time saving is used as a verbal adjective (a participle) which modified time... and refers to the saving of daylight.. Now that will put you to sleep! :) In New Hampshire we will gain 2 hrs and 33 minutes of light!
Don't forget to spring forward and change batteries in smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.
