General motors did create a fabulous hybrid. They pulled if from the market. I have also known many people who over the years have designed fuel efficient systems for automobiles. Those patents were bought out and never put into production.
Big Oil money has been and continues to be behind all of the stifiling of progress. It is not to there benefit to have efficient automobiles.
When George Bush was elected in 2000 I was telling everyone then that you can kiss fuel efficient automobiles goodby. No legislation will be done requiring better fuel consumption as long as an Oil man and an Oil Mans Family are in the White House.
The answer to your questions is. Our Politicians are making loads of money on the fuel we buy. The Bushes own big oil wells and are making a mint... Lord have mercy they would have to live like we do...
BV,
It`s hard to believe the BIG 3 in the car industry refused to see the future.
Hey Brett,
I agree with you. There are NUMEROUS issues that I question or don't agree with, but energy consumption would be at everyones best interest and should have some regulations. I believe one reason why we don't have better fuel milage requirements is that many politicians and Presidents have had monetary ties to the oil industry.
