Several weeks ago an announcement was made that Brookdale Communities would be purchasing Emeritus Communities nationwide. The announced purchase price would be in the 2.8 billion mark and they are anticipating a closing date sometime in the 3rd quarter of 2014.
With the Merger between Brookdale and Emeritus they will have over 100,000 units in 1161 communities in 46 states. By far the largest Senior Community for assisted, independent, CCRC and Memory Care living centers. Brookdale Communities will be located within 10 miles of 6.5 million Seniors who are 80 years or older. They are projecting to save over 45 million a year in operating expenses with this merger.
By 2030---20% of the US Population will be 65 years of age or older.
Currently there are 5 Brookdale Communites in the Orlando area along with 7 Emeritus Communities.
