Knowing When You are Ready to Sell Your Home

By
Real Estate Agent with Referral Patners LLC 0583719

You know you are ready to sell your home when...

ready to sell houseyou no longer call it home but "this 'ol house". Sometimes a seller can become a hindrance to the sale of their house by clinging to their home. Perhaps it was your first home or your children were born there or... the list can be long.

One of the best recommendations for sellers is to begin disassociating from the house. It is always best to start thinking of it as a house and not home. Mentally pack up the memories and begin planning the new ones you will make in your new home. Physically packing up the memoirs and pictures can help significantly.

Are you ready to sell your home house? Contact a local real estate agent that knows your neighborhood to help you plan the process of selling and buying houses. And start making plans for your new home.

Teral, Oh yes it is so much easier to sell a house than to try to detach a seller from their home. Those emotions are hard to overcome.

Oh my, I had to chuckle about this one.  My mom still lives in my childhome and I know when the time comes it will ve very very difficult!

Excellent advice...it's not your home anymore, it's now a house!  You have to think of it as a product, and use strategic marketing to sell it.

Thanks Debbie, emotionally attached is indeed difficult to overcome. Nice when the seller is looking forward to next house to become home.

Chrstine, doesn't sound like mom is looking to sell so when that time comes yes it will be difficult. I hope it is a long way down the road.

Hi Teral,  Great advise for those clinging sellers. It's exciting to look forward to the new memories that will be made with a new home.

Teral  You have a very clear understanding of the emotional attachments to 'stuff'.  I always look for what they 'dream' about

Thank you John; looking for their "dream" is a good way to understand the reason for selling.

It is hard for some sellers to let go - that is when it is helpful to give them a video camera and tell them to make a movie of the house - it is the memories we should hold on to - not the house.

I do agree Lise, memories not the house.

We find this happening with sellers who have lived in their house for so many years, but it is definitely too big for them now. We here this all the time..."I can't downsize. Where am I going to place my large china cabinet"??

Teral,

Excellent advice!  The sooner that they declutter and start packing things away, the house will show so much better.
