Laurel Cove is an established neighborhood built in the 1970's. The neighborhood extends from the intersection of Great Neck and First Colonial Rd. west to the Lynnhaven River. Click here for a satellite view.
The neighborhoods of Laurel Cove, Laurel Cove East and Eastwood Manor all form the Laurel Cove Civic League. The civic league is very active; hosting Easter Egg Hunts in the neighborhood park, pictures with Santa in December, an annual neighborhood garage sale and an email alert system for all residents. The homes in Laurel Cove mainly consist of ranches and 2 story colonials and dutch colonials. Most are 3-5 Bedrooms have 1600-2200 sq. ft. There are many culdesacs and coves with some homes on the lake or the river. Most of the homes have been updated with renovated kitchens and bathrooms, new windows and roofs and some homes have additions.


The many children in Laurel Cove have popular public school and private school options. The public schools for the neighborhood are: Cox High School, Great Neck Middle School and John B. Dey Elementary School. Convenient private schools include: Broad Bay Manor School, Cape Henry Collegiate, Wave Children's Learning Center (which also includes Wave Montessori), Stratford Preschool, Baylake Pines School and others.
Laurel Cove also features a large neighborhood park with basketball courts, picnic tables and playground equipment.
The Chesapeake Bay and Oceanfront beaches are about 10 minutes away by car and 30 minutes by bike. Across from the entrance into Laurel Cove are 2 gas stations, 2 shopping centers, a gym and a garden center. There are many popular restuarants and stores close by including:
