HAR - Houston Association of Realtors has a great tool for Realtors throughout the US who wish to fully market their international listings.

We have a special section on our www.HAR.com web site devoted entirely to the practice of International Real Estate. This web page offers many items: hundreds of listings, consumer information, agent information, educational updates, consular information and more to help the consumer and real estate practitioner better understand the special components involved in a foreign property transaction.

HAR is recognized nationally for its user-friendly web site and high volume of visitors, and the International page is certainly leading the way not only on a State level but for the entire US as well. In fact, both NAR and TAR (Texas Association of Realtors) are not only impressed by our site but looking at us in an effort to improve their own international presence.

While there are obligations for listing on HAR (two of which: you must become a member of HAR and have an exclusive listing agreement), just imagine the exposure your client will gain from advertising in the Gateway City of the South. HAR is no longer a "local" site but receives thousands of visits daily from all over the world.

If you would like more information, contact me as I serve on the International Committees for HAR and TAR and I will be happy to help you in any way that I can.

Hi Christi- Sounds like you have a very progressive association.

Thanks for dropping by my site and leaving a comment on my "Real Estate Free Weekend" blog post.

Yes, Julie, HAR is very progressive and the International Committee is working very hard to be the leader. We are currently planning three terrific International education courses for 2008 that might be of interest. We are scheduled to present the following:

CIPS: Local Markets (a two day course and prerequisite for anyone wishing to obtain the Certified International Property Specialist designation).

Risk Reduction in International Real Estate: A three hour course highlighting what all agents should know about risk management, especially when dealing with an incoming foreign investor.

Doing Business in Mexico: A half day course offering insight into working efficiently with the incoming and outgoing Mexican investor as well as how to handle foreign transactions in that country. As our closest neighbor... this is a great course for all.

I have taken all three and recommend these courses highly. It would be well worth the Continental/Southwest Airlines flight to Houston to mingle with a friendly and progressive group of Realtors as well as gaining terrific knowledge to help prepare you for today's international buyer and seller.

Thank you, Jose.

I see that you have agents in Mexico and surrounding areas. Your firm, Tu Casa might enjoy the added exposure in marketing your listings by becoming a member of our association, You would be very welcome and I would be happy to help in any way that I can.

Our TAR (Texas Association of Realtors) International Advisory Group (I am a member) is planning a trade mission to Guadalajara in September. Please email me the contact information for your agent in that area so that perhaps we could meet. Have a terrific day!
