If you live in an area that gets alot of rain, then I have a nea little trick for you to use that rain water to your advantage and save on your monthly water bill. In this article you will learn how to build a rain barrel to catch water and store it for outdoor use such as washing the driveway, cleaning your vinyl siding, etc.

Murfreesboro Real Estate Tips- How to Build a Rain Barrel

1. Cut the slats and battens (slats are vertical, battens are horizontal)

2. Assemble the parts to create 4 panels

3. Assmble 3 of the sides

4. Install final side

5. Install floorboards

6. Add 4x4 wooden legs

7. Build a door for the top

8. Attach a pull handle and hinges

9. Fasten door to the top with wood screws

10. Screw horizontal battens to the outside to strengthen

11. Use a hole saw to create an inlet on the backside toward the top

12. Make an outlet toward the bottom of front with hole saw in both the wood, and in a plastic garbage can to go inside the rain barrel

13. Install hose valve on front hole

14. Use hole saw to drill hole in downspout in house

15. Connect flexible hose from downspout to rain barrel
