St Patrick's Day is on a Monday this year. Traditionally, this is considered a "drinking holiday". However, since most of us in Austin will have school or work the next day, you really do need to celebrate responsibly. You can kick up your heels, enjoy a pint and celebrate all things Irish at the St Patrick's Day Austin 2014 party on Monday afternoon.

You won't find green beer at the St Patrick's Day Austin 2014 celebration. Instead, Austin residents and visitors who are at least 21 years of age with a photo ID can sip a dark Irish stout, a crisp lager, a chocolate whisper of a Guinness or a smooth pale ale. The only beer served here will be authentic Irish imports in the hues Mother Nature intended them to be. Hungry? Good, because they're cooking up some Texas-styled corned beef and cabbage slaw, fish and chips and other mouth-watering meals to accompany your liquid libations. Top everything off with a traditional Irish dessert or two.

Every hour of the St Patrick's Day Austin 2014 festivities will include a new activity. For example, take a quick tutorial on the Irish language from the Gaelic League of Austin, watch traditional Irish cloggers on stage and learn more about the Irish culture from one of the vendor booths. You can't have a celebration without music and traditional Irish music will put you in celebration mode like no other. Local Irish talent from Austin and the surrounding area will perform on both the outdoor tent stage and the indoor stage all afternoon long.
