While I was writing down the buyer's information while at the open house yesterday, the pen died. So just like any good boy scout, I pulled out my brand new back up pen....Nope, isn't working either. So, let's try back up number 3, then four.

This wasn't my day, the clients said, let us take your card and we will call you later. It really isn't looking good for getting a call from them, since that was yesterday and still no call.

In the heat of the moment, I didn't think of the things I could have done. But, after they left, I came up with a few ideas and started taping my conversations with people on my voice recorder to write down later when I could find a pen that worked.

It is sad when the simple technology fails us! But, it will help me in the future, so I'm going to remain optimistic and call it a learning experience.

Yes, I always seem to come up with "what I should have done" after the  fact, as well.  Look on the bright side - Because of this, you'll be more prepared in the future...  :)

Todd

Murphy's law strikes again. i always have a couple dozen pens and anything else I might need in a separate briefcase in my trunk, I learned this the hard way just like you have.

What I love is being at my desk at the office, someone calls me, and that office troll has stolen every last pen but the yellow highlighter....troll even took the pink highlighter.

I have a little digital recorder with me as well - and it's saved me, and impressed my clients at the same time.  LOL

Debi - I am, I always try to learn from my mistakes/failures.

Terry - Four pens though, no one should go through four pens in 3 minutes.

Josue - But, you got their information with that call, even if it was just for the photos, that is a start.

Fran - There is, that is how I record my posts, but I wasn't thinking in that mode at that time or it would have been done.

Dan - I would go through pencils fast when I was a kid and even now because I write so hard.
