International Builders' show featured many new product geared towards the contractors, homeowners, and real estate professionals. Here are just two I found very cool for our industry.

SeeSnake Micro:  A hand held visual inspection tool, that can see into hard to reach places like behind heavy equipment down drain pipes and into wall cavities. This one pound LCD monitor can reach from 10 to 30 feet and comes with a mirror, magnet , flexible cable and hook to enhance it's function in any application (from $200 and up for larger models and is water proof). product info: www.ridgid.com/seesnakemicro

Kwikset Smartkey; this technology allows the user to re-key locks quickly and easily, in a three step 30 second process you can replace a lost key while the lock remains in place  With the Smartkey learn tool and the existing key owners can change keys without special training or the use of a locksmith. It also is secure against unauthorized key changing, because it requires both the working key and the SmartKey Learn Tool to re-key the lock. Lock sets will start at about $40 at home centers. www.kwikset.com/product/smartkey

These are both nifty tools. Attending different home shows is a good idea to see the trends in building practices and designs.

That smart key looks great.  I do a lot of property management and we always change the locks between tenants.  This would save time and money.
