One

One is the disjointed gait of

Purposeful lunges and pinwheeling arms.

One is the raucous squeal of

Triumph and warbling wail of defeat.

One revolution of the earth around the sun

Puts one candle on your cake, son.

One familiar waltz for the old man

Is your very first tango.

Your cloudless sky

The only rival for those baby blues.

Your smile fills voids that never were.

Time doesn't notice,

But I do.

And I will.

When one becomes two,

And two becomes forever.

Happy Birthday, Wy Wy.

Daddy loves you.

Paul - This is a lovely poem for your freshly minted one-year old boy.  I am going to include this one in the Family Ties wrapup, which is coming out soon tonight.

Wonderful!  I'm sure the party was a big success and that he is blissfully exhausted from a day of cake and presents and trains.  Hugs to all!

HI Paul!  You're such a sweet dad.  I hope Wyatt had a fantastic 1st!  Hugs from the crew!

PAUL - I hope that Wyatt had a great first birthday.  It's amazing how fast time flies.  I was looking back at photos from last Easter at my little one, and she has changed so much since then.  This poem is something that Wyatt will be able to look back on many years from now and see just how proud his dad is.  Nicely done.

I love it Paul,

This will mean the world to him years from now. You express your joy and love beautifully. Thank you for sharing this with us. I came across a poem my dad wrote that showed his joy for me when I was a baby and it means so much to me today.

I have a Wy Wy too! My grandson, Wyatt Hunter is 6 years old now. Way to go dad.

Later in the rain~Deb

Adam, you said it, brother. Everyone tells you that the time will fly, but I expected that to mean in looking back when they are fully grown. The year to year changes are staggering in both speed and significance. We were looking at our older son today and fully realizing there is no baby left in him. Thanks for your comment, Adam.

Not cheesy at all, Inna. This was not a challenging read, so I am pleased with anyone taking the time to wish my boy a happy day :) Thank you!
