It happens twice a year - the first Saturday in May and the first Saturday in October: The Addison Community Addison Garage SaleGarage Sale!  Shoppers come from far and wide for this semi-annual event.

Any resident of the town can reserve one "booth" per Addison address under the tent in the Sam's Club parking lot by submitting $20 and proof of residency (water bill, tax notice, lease agreement, drivers license) to the Town of Addison Environmental Services Department.  You get a table and 2 chairs, but you can bring more tables, clothes racks, display stands, saw horses and planks, you name it.

While selling unwanted "stuff" can be fun and profitable, I'd much rather browse through my neighbors' castoffs and junque.

Officially, set-up begins at 6:30 am and the wise shopper will be there that earlAddison Garage Sale Findy, too.  Technically, the event opens to the public at 8:00 am (til 2:00 pm), but the best stuff goes fast, sometimes even before it is fully unpacked.  Last year I picked up a pair of Italian Laticino lamps from the 1950s for $10 for the pair, well before the 8:00 am start time.  And I've seen neighbors sell out all they brought and head home by 11:00.

You don't have to live in Addison to shop the garage sale, so come one, come all!  See you under the tent in the Sam's Club parking lot, 4150 Belt Line Road, Addison TX  75001 on May 3rd, rain or shine!

Sounds like fun and I love garage sales.  Good place to meet people too.  Lorrie, come to our BBQ on April 12 th if you can, we'd love to meet you.

Thanks for the invite, Ricki.  I did see the post in the LSREP Group, but you're kind of far from Dallas and it's difficult to take off a spring Saturday in this profession.  Much easier to justify a round of garage sales at the crack of dawn when the buyers are still sleeping in.

Yes Lorrie that's true but meeting other Rainers and networtking referrals can be rewarding too.  Just wish you could come.  Maybe next time.  We want to do this on an annual basis and have it in different parts of the State so everyone has a chance to show off their areas.  Good idea huh?

sounds like a great day Lorrie, if I can squeeze more stuff into my storage unit I may try and make it down there.

Lorrie - great information on the Addison sale- I have lived in the area for 10+ years and never heard of that before!!!  I'll be there bargain hunting alongside you!

Lorrie! I didn't know about this event...I'll have to try and make it. Thanks so much for sharing.

Ricki - It's a GREAT idea. Tom Burris, Karen Otto and I had discussed an AR get-together for North Texas, but we haven't acted on it yet.  Maybe you will be our inspiration!  If my buyers give me the day off, I may head down to your BBQ.

Karen - There is ALWAYS room for more!  Shift a little here, double up some there....

Nathan & Kim - Call me when you're under the tent and we'll meet up!

Ah, Addison! Not a city, but a "town." The Town of Addison. The best place to live and work in North Texas. There's something to be said about a place that doesn't take itself too seriously. Note the exclamation point in the town's name. Here you'll find the ruminations, rants and raves of one of the town's realtors and residents.
