Featured Posts (Use Them For Good)!!!

     I think what amazes me the most about those who are members of the Active Rain community is just how unselfish and helpful you people really are. I have learned so much from reading your posts and I have shared and used the information given.

     However, I still fail to understand the criteria for getting a featured post.

     I thought it may have something to do with the time of the post, after all those who judge the posts are not awake 24/7. Wrong! No correlation at all.

     I thought they might only be given to those with a certain amount of points. Wrong again!

     I thought that they may, and should, be given to those posts that offer the following:

      1. Posts that are insightful.

      2. Posts that offer help and advice.

      3. Posts that may be humorous or not.

      4. Posts that give us market news (both locally and nationally).

     These were the reasons that I would hope that all featured posts would be judged.

     Then I read a post in which a realtor was slammed because this person had little idea on how to stage a home. The obvious tone of this post was to belittle the agent and prove that we should all hire a professional stager to stage a home. The cheers from the comment section were just as degrading, though toned down. The worst part was that the poster also was belittling the owner of the home. How dare you! Homeowners are the reason that we, and you, have jobs in this industry. I am sure this homeowner would love to read the post (surely you sent the homeowner and the realtor a copy) and post a comment of her own. 

     I have read many times about those of you who are tired of the petty bickering and the insults that are thrown at our profession by those of us in our profession. How we should not use Active Rain as a gossip or insult board because we have customers that read these posts just as we do. Well, it doesn't help to complain if posts such as the one I have mentioned are REWARDED by putting that YELLOW STAR by their posts.

     I hope all of you that read this post will understand just how much we are hurting ourselves by letting this continue. Belittling those for your own amusement does not need to be done in our community.
