That "in between time"

I posted on Facebook last week that I was calling it quits on the ski season and moving on to gardening and horse riding. A friend says that she hates the "in between time". I totally got it. Here in NW MT, all accept plowed piles of snow are gone, leaving wet and mud in it's place. At night it freezes, and during the day it is just messy. Too messy to ride or work the horses and my garden beds are still frozen. So, what to do in the seasonal transition? Start seeds for gardening later, work horses on the ground with limited choices, shed out the horses, get more sawdust for the stalls, move the horse trailer to practice loading the young horse. Always something to do but I have this dread of April when all the outdoor activities and chores become possible and necessary.

I have contacted Dudley Tree Services to prune our trees so we can scratch that off the list and also have a house painter lined up to paint the house this year. Less chores = more time to take advantage of the long awaited summer. We tend to go from winter to summer here so "ready, set go" as my 2 year old grandson would say!
