Must a Home Seller Disclose Register Sex Offender in the Neighborhood?

According a recent article in Texas REALTOR magazine, the Texas Code of Criminal Procedures states that a homeowner, broker or salesperson has "no duty" to disclose to a prospective buyer information regarding a registered sex offender.

The TAR Seller's Disclosure has a paragraph under "Additional Notices" where one may include the Web address of a site where someone can search such information.

If you are a buyer and have such concerns, you may want to Google for a site that will confirm or alleviate your fears.

In Texas, we say "disclose, disclose, disclose."
