MAKING ENDS MEET IS MAKING THE ROUNDS

I remember years ago when welfare payments met or exceeded the minimum wage. So naturally many did the math and word of mouth quickly spread to get on welfare and quit your meaningless job. Today, that doesn't hold up as welfare is discouraged and is not enough to live on

MINIMUM LIFE

Minimum wage works for those that need some spending money. It doesn't hold well for anyone trying to make a living, get ahead or build wealth. Raising the minimum wage will take some of the subsidy burden off the government, but doesn't do much for the future of anyone that is on it

DAY TO DAY

The word "minimum" gives it away. It is the very least that someone will pay you. However, when you take the amount you actually bring home after putting in your 20-40 hour work week into the market place, it doesn't do much. Forget about big ticket items and quality products

RENT EATS FIRST

Making rent or shelter needs gobbles up the biggest amounts unless you have a very small place in the least desirable location and or share a residence. If one thing goes wrong with your car (if you have one), then your whole existence is thrown into question. Same with a health issue too

ROOM AND BOARD

The days where someone just wanted to work for their keep may come back. Today's version of this is grown children have moved back in with their parents. In some cases, it is for both their sake's too. In other countries and cultures it is the norm for three generations to share a home. That system made sure everyone had a quality of life and even knew one another too

SOLID GROUND MUST BE PRESERVED

What we all need to be reminded of is that the foundation from where someone tries to lift off from to get ahead which leads to a better life needs to be kept solid and in good working order or the whole system becomes at risk.
