We had a great time today at Home Slice! Had a bit of a scare when we saw a sign "Closed Tuesday" - how weird is that? Turns out that only the patio area and second building was closed. It was a beautifully sunny day but chilly, in the 60s so eating inside was fine by us!! This little mom & pop place resides in an area built in the 1920's-1930's so they close it every Tuesday for maintenance and a day off. Fortunately for us their other building was open - yes it's in two buildings. Weird, right? That's Austin for you!!
I noticed Dorie right away - she stood out like a social marketer - taking pictures of the building before walking in, lol! That's exactly the kind of thing I would have done had I not been there before!
Standing next to me was a new comer, Keith Vanzant! Keith was invited by Jerry Newman who is one of my team members in San Antonio. Keith being with Keller Wiilliams Realty and Jerry formerly with Keller, decided to do some referral business, very exciting! Both are military specialists.
To my surprise, one of my San Antonio colleagues, Alice Ruiz, saw us on Facebook. Since she was driving through Austin she stopped by to learn more about blogging - how cool is that? We had 3-4 others who really wanted to make it but it just didn't work out. Next time! I was encouraged to do another South Austin event. A funny thing about Austinites; they're rather divided between North and South. The cultural difference is considerable. One being suburban Texas the other being urban and weird. I'm weird in case you're wondering.
At the 11th hour my hubby Scott Bureau showed up; he was stuck on the phone. He scootered over but our group was breaking up so I stayed with him for a slice. He's an IT consultant who works from home and/or travels so we try to eat lunch together when we can. He's a new blogger and helping me with my WP website so I just signed him up with AR.
Dorie mentioned she really loves SOCO (Sout Congress historic area) so most likely next quarter I'll do a meetup in the same vicinity. In fact I have a few places in mind. Maybe if I remember to reach out to New Braunfels and San Marcos folks we'll see some new fresh faces. Cool!
Looking forward to seeing your meetup blogs!
