Past Price Changes May Come Back to Haunt You in Search Results

Have you ever tried to get an "old" list price off the Web?   Maybe you listed a home a couple years ago which expired and now you want to re-list it at a higher price.  You'd be surprised how difficult it can be to get certain online sites to get those old prices and out-of-date search results off the Web.

FSBO websites and auction sites come to mind as some of the worst culprits in this regard.  I know a client who is now trying to get some of this old property information off the Web, and he's having one heck of a time doing so.

If another agent with a different firm had a listing before you picked that listing up, you may find yourself pleading with that previous agent to contact the site administrator and have their old listing information taken down.  I've encountered some prior agents who weren't very cooperative.  Good luck persuading an aggrieved former agent to assist you in getting this done!

In one instance, I know of a seller who changed agents several times in a span of four years.  Web search results for his property address produced an array of contradicting information, including multiple list prices.   People who searched his listing were so confused (and irritated) that it did the seller more harm than good.
