A New Restaurant…….

By

I meet friends for lunch at a new place today. It was a former Friendly's building and apparently it had been a that once upon a time. The menu was fine and the food acceptable. Unfortunately, at the next table there was a baby about a year old in nothing more than a diaper running around. I was not the first to arrive or I never would have taken the table. That said, the kid was out of control and his Mom was not interested in containing his enthusiasm and the poor child actually feel to the floor and hit his head. The child is OK, but for me a relaxing lunch was no longer possible.

I don't expect a secluded and easy meal in a place where kids are welcome, but allowing a child in nothing more than a diaper is not appropriate either. Oh well, I will have a good dinner.

Hello Sheila,  I do not understand some parents but to each their own I guess.  Sorry about your lunch.

Hello Sheila,

I could not agree more!  A diaper is not adequate clothing for a child in public - especially a restaurant...gross!

I've never understood a lack of controlling your child in public places.  never Ever.

Good afternoon friends and thank you for stopping by and leaving your comments and offering your support: I really appreciate it.

Hello Will. Oh well. I guess that is what happened but I will be more careful next time or get there first. If that is the worse thing to happen, I will get over it happily and forever.

Hi Lisa. It was almost beyond belief but I survived and have learned I need to get there first. Incredible that the Mom would have a child without clothing in a restaurant, any restaurant. Enjoy the afternoon.

Hello Tammy. I certainly agree with you. No one in the place was happy but I won't be back and all is well. Thank you.

Sheila, I'm with you, I don't expect children to always be on their best behavior, but I do expect parents to be conscious and considerate to others around.

Your story reminds me of when I was a waitress and a kid, in front of its parents took the salt and pepper shakers, screwed off the tops, and dumped them on the table.  The kid got remarks like, "Oh he's so smart to figure that out."  I was so miffed.  You don't atta-boy a kid for behavior like that.

Sheila- I love kids but yes, parents need to be more diligent.  We were out once and the parents let their children run all around. .The poor waiters were doing everything they could to prevent themselves from tripping over them.

It almost never fails when we are seated the waitress will bring someone who either talks loud or chews their food with their mouth open.  Either way it makes the meal unpleasant

There is no excuse for that....poor parenting!  It's always frustrating when something like this happens.

Good morning Kathy. Children are brought into situations by parents or others who seem not to care about the impact they have on others. Too bad.

Hi James. I generally ask not to be seated near children when out.

Hello Sharon. Agreed.

Thanks all.

Sheila

I am curious as to how the Mom was dressed...I guess we should be thankful she (hopefully) had full outerwear on over her undergarments (LOL)

Hi Lisa. Yes, she was dressed. LOL. I think she knew someone who worked at the restaurant, but it didn't matter.   Sheila
