Late in 2013, FB "turned on" their Ratings and Reviews feature for desktop users (mobile users have had this capability since 2012) which was immediately met with mixed opinions. Some loved it (obviously these biz owners received positive reviews), some disliked it, and some turned the feature off on their FB Biz Page. Whatever category you fall into, it is worth noting that many consumers rely on ratings and reviews to make decisions about which business entities they want to hire and/or avoid. With that in mind, using this feature might be beneficial to your business model and is worth a serious look.
This feature only works on Facebook Fan Pages (Business Pages) and is recognizable by the blue stars (5 total) to the right of your profile photo under your business name. The tips below will help you setup or disable the feature, show you how to leave reviews for other business', and provide a wealth of general information about the process in general.

Will this FB function rival sites like Yelp or Google+ Local? It is too early to tell but I do know it can be a powerful ally if you can get your clients to leave both a rating and a review.
Happy Facebook Fridays Rainers!

As a quick reminder, when you visit a Facebook Fan Page (like the 5 listed above) make sure to LIKE their fan page from your personal page or the LIKE Counter on their page will not increase. Then go back and LIKE it and comment from your Fan Page so they have an easy way to track back and reciprocate on your Fan Page.
