City of Indio Fastest Growing in the Coachella Valley
The city of Indio added an estimated 3,328 people to its population according to the State of California's Department of Finance latest release of census numbers. Of the nine Coachella Valley cities, Indio contributed to more growth than any other city in the valley. All nine cities had a combined increase of 6,200 people in 2012.
It's no surprise to me that Indio has had the most growth in population over the other Coachella Valley cities. Homes in Indio offer home buyers a lot of bang for their buck. The majority of the homes are newer and offer more square footage per dollar.
Indio's current population is 81,393 and that number is expected to grow to more more than 116,000 people over the next 10 years. An estimated 10,000 new homes are expected to be built. Neighborhoods that are already building new homes include, Palazzo, Mountain Estates, and Aliante, all located in North Indio.
All of the Coachella Valley cities increased in population in 2012 according to the news release. However, the availability of open space is greatest in Indio as well as Coachella and Cathedral City.
On top of new home communities, Indio has also had tremendious growth in commerical building. Developments already well established include the Home Depot, Winco, and Super Target located off Jackson Street on the north side of I-10. A Super Wal-mart is in the construction phase and there will be much more to come.
