Friday night in Murphy at the local Racetrack on FM 544 finds us fueling up for the weekend and some local cruising time. Sitting there in the car reminded me of a recent experience on our trip to Denver. Having returned home only a few days ago my thoughts turn to what most travelers or relocated homeowners must feel in a community they are not familiar with.
Our traveling days are normally limited to a long weekend rarely exceeding 5 days; I prefer 3. I am a home body. But we had a special reason to go to Denver. Baby granddaughter was awaiting to meet us. It was absolutely wonderful spending time with her for 9 whole days but did it ever put us outside of our comfort zone.
Anytime we decided to venture out on our own for even the simplest of life's pleasure like finding a doughnut store was a real challenge for us, the out of towners. A couple of times we just drove around finding things with the assistance of GPS. It's a great assistant except where there is a lot of construction with detours but that's another story.
After 9 days we never did reach a level of comfort as to where the all too familiar places that we enjoy at home were located. These local places brings us to the point of our story - blogging about the local places is really important. No matter where you may live or how long you have lived there someone is always new or searching for that particular local place.
It's also brings home the added value to utilizing a local Realtor® when searching for your new home. They are familiar with the local places, schools and other services you desire in a community. Not all real estate agents are Realtors®. A Realtor® belongs to the National Association of Realtors® and abides by a specific code of ethics. And they are the only ones who have a legal right to use the name Realtor®.
