Racetrack Murphy and Finding Our Comfort Zone

Racetrack Murphy FM 544

Friday night in Murphy at the local Racetrack on FM 544 finds us fueling up for the weekend and some local cruising time. Sitting there in the car reminded me of a recent experience on our trip to Denver. Having returned home only a few days ago my thoughts turn to what most travelers or relocated homeowners must feel in a community they are not familiar with.

Our traveling days are normally limited to a long weekend rarely exceeding 5 days; I prefer 3. I am a home body. But we had a special reason to go to Denver. Baby granddaughter was awaiting to meet us. It was absolutely wonderful spending time with her for 9 whole days but did it ever put us outside of our comfort zone.

Anytime we decided to venture out on our own for even the simplest of life's pleasure like finding a doughnut store was a real challenge for us, the out of towners. A couple of times we just drove around finding things with the assistance of GPS. It's a great assistant except where there is a lot of construction with detours but that's another story.

After 9 days we never did reach a level of comfort as to where the all too familiar places that we enjoy at home were located. These local places brings us to the point of our story - blogging about the local places is really important. No matter where you may live or how long you have lived there someone is always new or searching for that particular local place.

It's also brings home the added value to utilizing a local Realtor® when searching for your new home. They are familiar with the local places, schools and other services you desire in a community. Not all real estate agents are Realtors®. A Realtor® belongs to the National Association of Realtors® and abides by a specific code of ethics. And they are the only ones who have a legal right to use the name Realtor®.

Hi, Teral...When you get to my part of the state look me up. I will play tourguide for you and take you around. I know about being away. I use to be able to stay away for long periods of time, but now I can't. I actually did cut my CO Springs trip short by a day due to issues with a bank owned closing I had coming up. I know I could handle it all by email and the internet, but the sale needed me close to home. At least I felt that way.

Thanks Debbie, it sounds like you live in an unique area of Colorado. I also would like to meet John and some of the other local Denver agents. Not sure when we will be back up there but with that baby granddaughter I'm sure we will.

Hi Teral. Glad you were able to see your new granddaughter. I lived in Denver for 4 years, and it does take time to get used to finding places there. I know I need to get back to blogging more on local events, since I want to be the REALTOR of choice for my area.

Good morning Teral, Things sure have changed.  When we moved from Southern California to Georgia, we did not have the luxury of the internet to help us.  All we had was an address to go to, to turn in the Ryder truck. Blogging about localism, sure would have helped then.

Hi Jerry it was an eye-opener for me. People do want to know where the stores, gas, banks...are. I think you are already the Realtor of choice for San Antonio.

Times have changed; huh Larry but nothing like a good 'ol blog to read and share the ins and outs of a community and its lifestyle. Keep on blogging.

That's great that you take time away, Teral.  I love road trips and opt to drive instead of fly whenever possible
