Spring Is Here - Plenty of Things To Do in Lakeland Florida
I love this time of year in Lakeland Florida, the weather is great here and the sun is shining, while the Northern States are still waiting to thaw out from their brutal winter. April is one of the busiest time of the year filled with activities and things to do for the whole family to enjoy.
If you love running and want to participate in a 5K race, organizers say that the fee for the runners to participate is $25, $20 (ages 5-18) prior to this Saturdays (4/5/14) race. The 5k race takes you around beautiful Lake Mirror, Lake Morton and throughout parts of downtown Lakeland.
If you love Jazz, you are in for quite a treat at this year's Annual Child of the Sun Jazz Festival at Lake Mirror from 3 p.m. - 10 p.m. Performers will be Tampa Jazz singer Belinda Womack, Selwyn Birchwood, Brian Sutherland Trio, Rebekah Pulley and the Reluctant Prophets, Friends of Fil and the Florida Southern College Jazz Ensemble. So bring your chairs, blankets and enjoy some great Jazz music for free. According to the Lakeland Rotary Club, proceeds from this event will go toward the Learn to Swim Program, a program that teaches kindergarten students how to swim.
