Living in New Hampshire places us right in the middle of the #1 maple syrup producer, Vermont and the #2 maple syrup producer, Maine. During this time of year it is all about The Maple Tree.
This past Sunday was "Maine Maple Sunday" and this blogger shared with thousands of Mainer's who poured native maple syrup on thier pancakes and over ice cream. If you haven't had FRESH maple syrup from a local Sugar Shack you really haven't tasted REAL maple syrup.
Now in case you think you missed out in this celebration of the sweet tooth, NH has it's own Maple Syrup Weekend and it is coming up this Saturday March 29th and Sunday March 30th.
Over 50 sugarhouses will be open and welcoming visitors throughout the state. Some sugarhouses are also offering pancakes breakfasts, sugar on snow ( you gotta try this if you haven't had this one...), musical entertainment and of course the opportunity to learn about the history and skills required to make maple syrup.
The NH maple syrup industry produces close to 90,000 gallons of maple syrup....Now that is A LOT of pancakes to be covered!
