TruliRain? Interesting Happenings Around Here

By
Real Estate Agent with Realty Executives

OK, so I didn't really see this one coming but when I sit back and think about it, I'm not really all that surprised. One thing I've known for a long time is that Bob Stewart likes to shake things up a bit every once in a while. When it comes to this whole TruliRain thing, I'd say there's certainly been some shaking going on for a while.

Another thing I know about Bob is that he does care about this community and about the experience people get from being a part of this community. See this pic below? Where was it taken? It was taken in 2009 at REBarCamp in Seattle that was held at Zillow's headquaters. Ironic? I thought so. :)

Basically, we were having lunch and I mentioned a community type that was missing from the Active Rain web site. While we were eating our lunch, Bob took out his trusty computer and created the community type right there. As soon as I heard the news about the whole Active Rain / Trulia thing, I thought of this photograph. Of course, that made me think of some other photos of Bob and the "old school" Active Rain crew but most of them have to do with beer and or sushi and I'd hate to have to get all nostalgic on everyone... :)

Congrats to the Active Rain crew for taking a pretty bold step. A step that I'm sure will make some happy while making some not-so-happy.

This one is going to be fun to watch...

Nick- when I joined AR in 2008, Bob had one of his challenges.  I asked him (I think in the comment section) if Stagers could be included.  Next thing I get is a phone call from him saying "why not!"  I love it.

Nick - It WILL be interesting, but change is good. As long as Bob and Kerrie are a part of it, we will be just fine.

I think it is a good thing and both ActiveRain users and Trulia will benefit hugely!

Kathy: He's cool like that...

Paul: Memory slipping in that old age, buddy?

Barbara: No arguments here. I hate to admit it but I don't know much about Kerrie. They both seem pretty capable, to me.

Evelyn: I really can see benefits for both. Hopefully, this continues to be a win-win-win...

Interesting turn of events and curious how having two profiles, subdomain or not, will influence search visibility.

Say goodbye to your SEO. Zillow and Trulia are battling for top spots and using our content to fight the war. It is like the US furnishing arms to china.

As long as my posts make it to the Internet, I am not sure I really care about too much else...My product and services are my first concern and get all my attention. If AR or Trulia or anyone else gets a side benefit, well happy them and happy me

One thing is for certain...can't escape change. And I have found it difficult to keep up when my primary job is sell real estate, not the "extras" ... but I will try.

Toby: I agree. That might be the $million question. :)

Michael: Agreed, it's hard to complain with the service they offer.

Corinne: A lot of other really smart people probably feel the same way. :)

Amanda and Jared: They really do seem to look out for the best of the community!

Jeffrey: While this will probably help Trulia, they already have one of the top spots for many key words so it might not be so bad. I am not ready to say goodbye to my seo as I don't rely on AR or ZTR to do it for me. I believe in owning your own content and working hard to get the results you desire.

Carla: I agree. We'll all keep fighting the fight. :)

A change for the better, but I understand the cause for worry. SEO is a big issue for a lot of agents. Thanks for the reminder that the folks at AR are deeply invested in this community.

I've had issues with Trulia for sometime and how listings are controlled, unrelated to the AR merger, yet if Trulia can work out some minor nuances then who knows what could happen throughout the network.

I like your name, TruliRain. Best of luck on trying to beat the top three ZTR in terms of SEO. I'm looking forward to the new change. Already have seen a lift in my AR page views in one day. Rock on, ART.

I am sure Activerain was started way back when to one day sell it and make some money. Is this the second "sell" or third?
