Hello and welcome fellow Top Producer software users, and anyone else who stopped by out of curiosity. I requested that my team be moved up to get a jump start in the new system. I have my 8i initial impression blog post that may bring you up to speed, and give you the list of the first recommendations I previously gave to Top Producer.
As you may well know Top Producer only makes improvements to the software when enough people have complained made a suggestion. If you use Top Producer (even if you haven't been moved up to 8i yet) I urge you to read the suggestions that I have made. If you agree that any of these suggestions would be beneficial to you too please send either the same or similar "suggestion" to Top Producer. After you pick and choose suggestions for improvement based on your needs and desires, then e-mail them to programsuggestions@topproducer.com.
The following text was pulled from the e-mail I submitted to Top Producer (8i suggestions are submitted through the 7i portal, and I just put the subject of Top Producer 8i software suggestion.)
My suggestions are numbered but they are not in any particular order of importance.
1. Under the Activities page (viewing all letters, phone calls, to-dos, etc) I think it pertinent that we be able to organize the page by contact name in addition to task name to eliminate duplicate calls that may be under different pretenses.
i. This is important for anyone who falls behind a week or two in massaging their database, and lets face it that will happen a lot. Adding this feature will allow agents to quickly get back on track.
2. Why do I need a primary contact type to update information!?
a. How convenient is it to have to put an xxx-xxx-xxxx in for a phone number in order to update my contacts that I have as a farm. For farming it is a terribly idea to have this requirement.
i. Suggestion is to either add an option of “drop-by” as a primary contact or “Mail” to be the primary contact type so I’m not continuously having to type in xxx’s.
3. Letter and E-mail Previewer…. Is not actually previewing the letter.
a. How do I know if my signature has gone off the page if you are only giving me a sample template when I click view Preview document. What am I previewing if not the letter I’m going to send. It is quite confusing, and I actually thought we were crossed with another account when I first saw it. And went looking for my signatures before I realized what was actually going on.
i. Suggestion – Have the preview screen actually be the preview for the client you are in, and with my signature, actual date, etc…
4. After clicking print/view we use to have an editing option.
a. By being able to edit the page it is helpful when the signature goes on to two pages and you want to keep it to one, to be able to delete or modify something to get it that way. Adjusting spacing for letterhead can no longer be done on this page either. Also being able to delete the USA if it is actually filled in.
b. It was also VERY helpful to be able to edit the letter’s before sending them out. So that it is not labeled to both spouses when directed at one or the other, and so that you can type in a RE: SUBJECT line on the envelope that is different for every person. For now I’m hand writing this in, but if this doesn’t change I may be forced to look for more professional options
i. Suggestion is to bring back editing capabilities in the print preview screen.
5. More quickly adding more than to-dos from the main contact page.
a. When opening up a contact you do have a quick to-do add box in the top left column, but you have to go to activities to add an envelope or a letter. Having to go to different screens makes inputting mass notes from Door Knocking or prospecting more difficult.
i. Suggestion is to have a drop-down menu on to-dos where you can select all the other options such as, envelopes, letters, calls, etc…
