Should I allow Home Showings on Easter?

Easter is not too far from today.

As we approach Easter Sunday, this question is likely to come up.

You should justify the request to show the home on Easter Sunday. However, keep in mind, the sellers will have the final say.

When it comes to looking at houses For Sale, no day seems to be sacred any longer. A buyer called and asked to see a Home Listed For Sale on Easter Sunday. I asked if they realized it was Easter and they told me "Of course, that is when our parents are visiting from out of town, and seeing they are giving us 20% down for a new home, it is when they must see it if we are able to buy it."

 

I was actually happy I asked because now as I call the seller, I can tell them why they are requesting a showing on Easter that can't be done any other day. The seller had a bad reaction to my request for a showing.

The Home Owner then stated they will be away at a family members and the answer is just no. My first thought is if you are not going to be there, then why not allow this buyer to come in, who already saw your home and loves it, the opportunity to bring their parents in who are providing the money to purchase it. No showing could mean no sale as they go to see their second choice.

 

After a day to think about it, Mrs. Seller called to allow the showing. She said she was so against showing her home on a holiday but when her husband reminded her they will not be affected as they are not there any way, she agreed.

 

The Buyer was nice enough to schedule it before I head out to be with my family. I have shown homes Thanksgiving, Christmas and got a new Listing this New Years day. It is a job where people have to adapt within reason to when the consumer is available too. Holidays can be some peoples only days off.

  

I leave you with my infamous words of wisdom that Buyers and Sellers can learn that they do have a choice in Real Estate Agents. Choosing a "GOOD" one, sure can make a difference. I leave you with my simple recipe to make your Real Estate Dreams come true.

 3. HOME BUYERS SHOULD START BY:  Getting a FREE PRE-QUALIFICATION with a local and trusted lender. They will look at your credit and financial picture and let you know what type of mortgage you may qualify for and what your interest rate and monthly payment may be.   

4. HOME SELLERS SHOULD START BYGetting a FREE MARKET ANALYSIS. Learn what your property is worth in today's market along with how ling it may take to sell. Praful, I did not have a chance to read this so thanks for the re-blog.  We do serve at the pleasure of our clients, but if we communicate in advance our boundaries things can work out-even on a holiday if the schedules of the buyer, seller, and agent work.  It would have been out of the question, however, if the seller had hosted a family dinner for Easter.

Glad it all worked out with schedules for Scott and his seller.
