SPRING IN TEXAS IS A BEAUTIFUL THING

Blue Bonnets are abundant this time of year. You can almost take any highway out of Houston and the surrounding towns and you will find Blue Bonnets everywhere. The Texas highways are adorned with these flowers for miles! This year we have seen some Pink Bonnets. My husband says these are hybrids.

Sussie, Lucky you!  Wwell, we in New England wait eagerly for a spring - a season is hard here for a month! Winter does not go away soon and summer is right around the corner!

Hi again, Sussie.

My first trip to Texas was in the 1970's in the US Air Force in San Antonio, then in Wichita Falls.  I lived in Texas for 6 months.

In the late 1990's and early to mid 2000's I took several cross-country road trips to various parts of the United States.   Texas was always on the route.

I've been to the Guadalupe Mountains, the Davis Mountains, the Padre Islands, the Pecos River Valley...  I stopped to eat several times at "Casa Rio" in San Antonio... I know the Galleria Mall in Houston... and so much more.... I just love Texas.

Right now I've got that song playing in my head, "Texas" by Chris Rea.

Sussie-We're not having as many patches of bluebonnets on this side of the state this year. Maybe the recent rain will spur some late growth. You got a great photo of the field.

Hi Sussie,  THey are not as plentiful in the Texas Hill Country as usual but where they are bloooming they are as beautiful as ever.  Yes, we have seen some pink bonnets.  The almost maroon ones they say are a hybrid created by A&M.  Why dont people just leave nature alone.  I like natural!  Afterall, the bluebonnets are the state flower.  You cant pick them so why can you alter them?
