A Classroom called Life

If we pay attention the field of real estate is a great classroom for learning many things about life. You are constantly learning things about people and situations as you interact with them. The lessons never end. Some agents learn the lessons quickly and don't make the same mistakes again. Others stay in an endless loop repeating the same situation over and over again. It's not WHAT happens to you. "IT" happens to all of us to paraphrase that first word. It is how you respond to situations that is the difference maker. Some take personal responsibility and move on. Others like to blame others or bad luck for their circumstances.

Whether life is good or bad for you at the moment, know that in an instant it can flip the other way. That is not the point. The point is what lesson is being provided to you on your very own unique path through life? And more important are you learning it?

You can apply this to all aspects of life not just to Real Estate.

Dee Dee: You are absolutely correct. I just find in the big fish bowl we are in daily with people and situations in real estate I think we probably get an advanced degree in lessons learned compared to some that don't have so much human contact. Plus with people dealing with what for most is their largest financial transaction there's all that emotion involved too. Plenty of life to observe!

Gary: You are wise beyond your years! Reactive or proactive, it's a choice each of us make.

Gary, I sure hope I'm learning each one as it comes along---I don't like repeats :)

Donna: I think we are all better to respond to each challenge with our best self.

Carole: Repeats you are right get us stuck in a rut.

Wow Gary, you are so wise!! I try NEVER to make the same mistake EVER again!! ;-) And, as a caveat, I've MADE PLENTY OF THEM!! ;-) Especially as a mom. ;-(

I have been learning every day! Just once I wish I had a day off and did not do something that required me getting another lesson in life!

gary..love the pic.. I also love the simplicity of the lesson...This business puts us in contact with so many walks of life, we cannot help but to learn and hopefully move ahead!!

We can always learn something during hard times, in fact, that is when I learn the most!! I couldn't agree more with your post, I am learning something new every day working in real estate.

Gary - this is great information to reflect on and to remind all of us that our response is imperative that we respond appropriately.

Unfortunately the people who take responsibility..learn from their mistakes and those who blame others, make them all over again!... And history repeats itself!

The world is, indeed, a classroom, and if we are open to it, we will find teachers in the people we never thought would be in that role, and lessons in every encounter. If we do not learn the lesson we need to learn the first time, we will encounter it again.

I was in Israel many many years ago, in the Shouk in the old City of Jerusalem. I was maybe 17 or 18 years old. I was trying to bargain with the shopkeeper, begging for a "student discount". His response was that we are all students in the school of life!

I heard once that you know you "haven't" learned your lesson and are doomed to keep repeating it because your circumstances haven't changed and you haven't moved on from that place.

Gary, It is so true... But hard sometimes to overlook. You keep always such a positive way of thinking and bring light in our minds. Thanks for reminding us that lesson

Bonnie: Keep them eyeballs peeled, there's always something new to learn around the corner.

Georgina: I know many parents ask their children at the end of the day what they learned, what they were thankful for, or what made them happy. Got to constantly ask questions to learn.
