Do you really know what it means to be a senior in the 21st Century?

I've been observing a huge transition in aging as compared to the example set when I was growing up. You can read a little about that in the January 10 blog I wrote, "We Need to Come up With a Name for This New Stage in Life."

I thought I saw it all until I saw this video of yet another new standard. I've seen video of seniors doing many various risky activities not usually associated with seniors but never like this:

I am utterly impressed, excited and a little worried at the prospect of living years beyond my expectations.  Impressed because I really expected that I wouldn't live past 80 let alone be able to be as active as Paddy. Excited at the prospect of having wisdom of a senior and living like a youngin' and worried because now I realize I really need to stock pile even more money away for retirement.

I still have another 30 some odd years left before I get to this age.  Who knows, maybe the average death rate will be even higher than what we understand it to be today and aging in the 21st century will be without limits.

Now at 62 I have realized that getting old is not for the weak. Guess when I was growing up I just never really understood.

My understanding is getting clearer the closer I get too, Bill. I'm making a conscious effort to take care of my body more now than ever before only after today, I think I need to work a little harder.
