Navy Continues to Seek More Commercial Space in the Harbour View Area of Suffolk (Located in the center of the Hampton Roads region of Virginia)
The Suffolk News Herald reports today that the "the Navy has expressed interest in the North Suffolk, VA building across from the former U.S. Joint Forces Command site"....Harbour View is already "the home to the Navy's Joint and Coalition Warfighting, three other technology-related commands and part of a fourth technology-related command...The technologically advanced building features high speed direct fiber optic connectivity and a dedicated generator farm and energy design." The new building would provide space for an additional 800 to 1,300 workers.
Suffolk Mayor Linda Johnson says “The city of Suffolk hopes to provide a high level of support to the 1,600 sailors, civilians and contractors now working in our city” with Joint and Coalition Warfighting and the other four commands, as well as “to serve as the long-term home to the U.S. Navy Cyber Command and provide opportunities for growth.”
The Harbour View Technology Center is adjacent to The Riverfront at Harbour View golf and waterfront community and just 12 minutes to Founders Pointe, another waterfront community being developed by East West Communities. Gatling Pointe and Eagle Harbor, two other East West Communities, are located just 20 minutes from the high tech corridor in north Suffolk, Virginia.
