TP 8i Troubleshooting - Recommendation

Team Chacon - West Covina Realty

After reading many posts with questions regarding Top Producer I was relatively surprised that I could not find a user's manual. Using TP 7i they had a comprehensive .pdf users manual that would walk you through anything you might have ever wanted to do. It worked well, and ctr+f became my best friend.

I have been very disappointed that there is not a .pdf on hand for 8i. They do have a help button on the top right hand corner that after you click on you will be taken to a confusing "Context" page. Click on the "Index" tab allows you to type in a keyword that of what you are trying to do, and cross your fingers, hold your breath, and give a prayer at the same time that you'll find something relative.

You may find what you're looking for, but if you're not familiar with their jargon, terminology or lingo it can be very difficult to find what you are looking for. It is not as easy as it could be, but they do not have any intention of creating a .pdf file at this time.

If enough people e-mail complaints suggestions to programsuggestions@topproducer.com they will eventually see them as important and then incorporate them.

They also encourage you to visit their Top Producer Campus which has some videos that are quite time consuming, butTeam Chacon - West Covina Real Estate go slow enough to grasp the very basic concepts. Being that Top Producer 7i was Javascript and we are now dealing with an HTML based 8i we should expect to see that changes should be easier for TP to incorporate.

I've written two blogs specifically outlining suggestions that I have made to TP and if you missed them I have the links below so you can view those.

Suggestions for Improvements to Top Producer 8i

Here is the big trick. When in doubt (or in Crisis) call the Technical Support line: 1-866-230-4789. Do not wait for an 8i option as they do not have one yet, just press 1 for 7i as they use the same tech support personnel for both. This should save you a lot of headache trying to track down your sales person. I find that the information I receive from my rep, although always reassuring and given with good faith is usually confusing to implement, misleading if I haven't purchased a certain upgrade, or in some instances just wrong.

I'm hoping TP gets their act together before they upgrade me to 8i from 7i.  In the meantime, I feel reassured by the fact that my tech coordinator took the hands-on 8i class - hopefully he'll walk me through everything, as he often does.  He's another ActiveRainer, if you want to touch base with David Fox, the Real Estate Tech Desk

8i has some new great features...but they forgot some of the basics.  It is great to upgrade; but they shouldn't take away features.

I have been on 8I for a couple of weeks. Seems to be working fine. Appreciate your input.

Seth - My salesperson tries to help me, but gets stumped on some of the aspects of 8i as well.  Technical support has been very good, but I am also frustrated by the lack of a PDF manual.  The videos are time consuming and never seem to address the issue that I want to know about.  The training is so broken up with no overarching concepts.  I'm sure there is a system in here somewhere that can make a real estate agent more productive.  I'd like to see a "day in the life" video of a real estate agent using every aspect of the system to make their day more productive.  It would give me some incentive to forge ahead.  I'm persevering and keeping a diary of my experiences in learning 8i, but I don't see the big picture and as you say, there is no ready reference guide.

Thanks Seth for your posting- I am sure Top Producer will take all into account and over time will implement your suggestions.

Hello Seth,

We have been using 8i for a few weeks now.  My assistants mentioned that when printing labels, they have to keep logging into 7i to accomplish the task.  Does anyone know if there will be an upgrade soon that will fix these short comings?

Enrico- I would e-mail the problem and the question to programsuggestions@topproducer.com. They usually give a response within a day or two depending on what time of day you send it (there is an automatic repsonse, but I don't count that). If the e-mail response isn't what you were looking for I'd recomend calling 866-230-4789.

I am still waiting to be on 8i is there anyone else waiting to be switched to 8i?

Julie- Thank you for reading. If you call 866-230-4789, and request to be put on a priority move-up list. They will sound reluctant to do so, and make it sound like it will take 4 weeks or more to happen. I was moved up within days of my request. I'll cross my fingers that it will work for you too. Thanks again.

thanks, I called Friday and asked to be pushed up in line. I am going to be training new staff and only want them to learn the new way. I think that will be easier.

Julie- Thanks for writing back. I think it would be easier to learn entirely in 8i only because you wouldn't know there was a better alternative way.
