For the last couple of months I have been struggling with shoulder pain and one shoulder is worst that the other. My doctor on two different occasions prescribed a steriod pack and almost immediately the pain went away. However, you cannot remain on the steriod indefinitely. The main symptom I am suffering is extreme pain if I try to lift my arms above my head.At first the doctor and I thought it might be the result of being on a statin drug for high cholesterol. I have been off that medicine for 2 months with no let up of the symptoms.
There is a veterinarian in my Wednesday night bible class that told me he had several dog owners come through his clinic with the same problem and their cause was a virus, so I told my doctor last week what my vet said and he said lets do blood work and see if the vet is right.The blood work came back and I have the Coxsackie Virus. It is not fatal but it can hang around for a few months and there is no cure. I am taking ibuprofen for the pain but that really doesn't take away all the pain. Has anyone else had this condition and what did you do to reduce the symptoms?
