Why is Real Estate and a Bird Stuck in a Building Sometimes Similar

Yesterday I was in my local market which has high exposed ceilings with skylights. I saw a flash of something go past me and after watching a few times I realized it was a bird. The bird was stuck inside and didn't seem to know how to get out. The skylight looked to be closed and sealed and I am still not sure how he even got inside. I finally got a clear picture when the bird rested for a few seconds.

Why is a Real Estate and a Bird Stuck in a building Sometimes Similar

Why is Real Estate and a Bird Stuck in a Building Sometimes SimilarSo while driving home and thinking about the poor bird, it reminded me of real estate and how agents sometimes get stuck in the building meaning we try something; farming, bus stops, mailers, signs, websites, etc and get stuck here doing the same thing. If it works great but if it doesn't, why keep banging your head against the wall or the window in this scenario. Many times in marketing we have to sign a contract for a time (year) so when the contract is ready to renew we need to consider if it was worth our money. Are you getting a return on your investment (ROI) or should you move on and try something else?

I am all for “BRANDING” but sometimes you have to tweak what you do if something is not working. Do not throw money away year after year. I think in sales, we have all done this once or twice and it also like the Lottery and gambling. You think if you just keep doing it, eventually it will pay off big. Maybe or maybe not!

Kristin, Good point regarding what works. If it does, stay the course, if not then make necessary changes to ensure success. Feel sorry for the bird, hope someone can safely capture it and release it outside.

Hi Wanda,

Yes I totally agree and sometimes it works once and never again. I have thought about the bird since I left as many do not care about birds.

Hi David,

I hope the poor little bird doesn't have your same philosophy. Have a great weekend.

Kristin, I like the way you took an event you saw, the bird trapped, and made a great point of how we get trapped in a practice that is not productive.

Sometimes we need to open the window and fly on to a more productive place.

Make it a great weekend.

I always appreicate the time you take to present what is happening in your market. It's an interesting read and interesting presentation. Local home buyers and sellers wanting to make a move should look you up.
